How to Use This Calculator

  1. Select your pool shape — rectangular, round, or oval.
  2. Enter the dimensions (length, width, or diameter in feet).
  3. Enter shallow and deep end depths — if uniform depth, enter the same value for both.
  4. Click "Calculate Volume" for gallons, liters, and fill time.
  5. Use the gallon figure for chemical dosing charts and pump sizing.

The Formula

Average Depth = (Shallow + Deep) ÷ 2
Rectangular: Volume = Length × Width × Avg Depth
Round: Volume = π × (Diameter/2)² × Avg Depth
Oval: Volume = π × (Long/2) × (Short/2) × Avg Depth
Gallons = Volume in cu ft × 7.48052

1 cubic foot of water = 7.48052 US gallons. A garden hose flows about 540 gallons per hour (9 GPM), which is used for fill time estimates.
