How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the room length and width in feet.
  2. Enter the plank dimensions (check the box label).
  3. Enter the box coverage in sq ft per box (printed on packaging).
  4. Set the waste factor — 10% for straight layouts, 15% for diagonal.
  5. Click "Calculate Flooring" for your estimate.

The Formula

Room Area = Length × Width
Total Sq Ft = Room Area × (1 + Waste%/100)
Plank Sq Ft = (Plank Length × Plank Width) ÷ 144
Total Planks = Total Sq Ft ÷ Plank Sq Ft
Boxes = ⌈Total Sq Ft ÷ Box Coverage⌉

Waste factor accounts for cuts, damaged pieces, and pattern staggering. Diagonal installations typically require 15% waste; standard straight-lay uses 10%.
